Why would anyone legally offer you the ability to download a new movie release for free?

We did find one site with thousands of free movie downloads. Although these movies are not new, the Internet Archive is a library of Internet sites and other cultural artifacts in digital form. Like a paper library, they provide free access to researchers, historians, scholars, and the general public. You won't have the ability to download free new movie releases, but with thousands of free movie downloads available, you are bound to find something for your entertainment that you haven't seen before. The different categories of "moving images" you will find at Internet Archive are Animation & Cartoons, Arts & Music, Computers & Technology, Ephemeral Films, Movies, News & Public Affairs, Non-English Videos, Open Source Movies, Prelinger Archives, Sports Videos, Video Games, Vlogs and Youth Media. If you navigate to the Moving Image Archive, all of these sub-collections are listed with a brief description of what you will find and the number of items available. | Custom Search |
For instance, the collection, Ephemeral Films has the description "Ephemeral films are non-fiction films usually made for educational, industrial, or promotional purposes. The two classic ephemeral film collections found on the Archive are the Prelinger Archives and AV Geeks." "In addition to these classic collections, you may view films from the Media Burn Independent Media Archive, drive-in movie intermission ads, and videos documenting the history of San Francisco from 1906 to the early 21st Century." The items in Ephemeral Films number 284. Each of the main collections is further broken down into sub-collections. The collection, "Movies", is described with "Watch full-length feature films, classic shorts, world culture documentaries, United States' WWII propaganda, movie trailers, or films created in just ten hours. These options are all featured in this diverse collection!" Items in the movie collection number 967. So, you may not be able to download free new movie releases at the Internet Archive, but you will find plenty to keep you busy for a long, long time.
